My Story
a Childhood Rooted in Nature
I was raised in the quiet rhythms of rural life in Erumamunda, a village on the forested fringes of Nilambur. My world was shaped by the soil, the forest, and the footsteps of my father—a teacher and farmer—and my mother, a gentle homemaker. My childhood was a walk through paddy fields, cool streams, and whispering canopies. This daily trek to school, sometimes as long as fifteen kilometers, meant the wilderness became both my playground and my first teacher. I learned by plucking wild berries, climbing trees, and catching fish from mountain streams—acts that awakened a primal connection to the world around me.
The Call of the Wild
The nearby Western Ghats stirred my soul, their ancient peaks calling me to explore their mysteries and awakening a lifelong reverence for biodiversity. Farming runs deep in my blood, a wisdom inherited from my father and grandfather, generations who listened to the land. This foundation—rooted in the soil and the wild—has guided every step of my journey.
The World as a Teacher
Travel later became my calling—not just as a profession, but as a path of discovery. This path has led me across more than 30 countries, each one broadening my understanding of the world’s incredible diversity. Through it all, one truth has become my compass:
